A Service of Remembrance was held Monday, July 2, at Slininger-Schroeder Funeral Home in Jefferson for Deloris Roeder, 91, longtime Jefferson resident.
Words of comfort were offered by the Rev Shirley Hoffmann Will of Griswold. Casket bearers were Benjamin Lawson, Rebekah Miller, Derek Roeder and Kyle Roeder. Interment was at the Jefferson Municipal Cemetery.
Deloris Catherine Roeder, daughter of Wilhemena (Wiese) and Detlef Petersen, was born July 8, 1926, at Carroll. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll. Deloris graduated from Carroll High School in 1944. She worked in businesses in Carroll, Storm Lake and Fort Dodge before her marriage to Ross L. Roeder on May 7, 1951, in Grand Island, NE. She was the mother of three children: Jane (Tim) Lawson of Panora, Rick (Marcia) Roeder of Jefferson, and Jeff (Kim) Roeder of Jefferson.
Deloris began work at Greene County Medical Center in February 1971 and retired in July 1991 after 20 years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson, belonged to a ladies’ circle, and was a 4-H leader. She was a member of the Yale Saddle Club, Greene County Pleasure Riders and ran the cook shack at horse shows for years.
She was preceded in death by her parents Detlef and Wilhemena Petersen; brothers Harry, Bill, Hugo, Raymond, Elmer, Vertis, and Leroy; and her sister Esther.
On June 29, 2018, Deloris passed away at the age of 91 years. She is survived by her three children; grandchildren Benjamin (Kori) Lawson of Perry, Rebekah (Zach) Miller of Adel, and Derek Roeder and Kyle Roeder of Jefferson; great- grandchildren Jenna, Elena and Grace Lawson, and Kipten and Tristen Miller; and other relatives and friends.
